Journals Begin the Southern Sampler Journey

Charleston, South Carolina 2013On the first day of the Southern Sampler Artist Colony workshop in Charleston, South Carolina we cover the long dinning room table of our beautiful Sullivan’s Island home with paper, scraps, glue and tape. Everyone has the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind writing journal from a simple 8″ X 11″ composition book. These books are carried by the writers on the many outings in and about Charleston, South Carolina it is much easier than lugging a computer or tablet (and much more colorful). Sometimes leaves, flowers, menus or scraps of paper are glued in – mapping our journeys throughout the week.

This is one of my favorite parts of the workshop!! At the Chinese Restaurant last night my fortune was, “Traveling to the south will bring you unexpected happiness.” I am ready.
